Mohammad Al-Gailani is the Managing
Director of GeoDesign Limited, an
oil and gas consultancy business
based in London specialising in
exploration and production
opportunities in Iraq, the wider
Middle East and the Northern Arabian
Basin. He graduated from Baghdad
University in 1972 with a B.Sc.
degree in Geology and worked briefly
for the Iraqi National Oil Company
in Baghdad. He won a scholarship in
1973 to undertake post-graduate
studies in the United Kingdom in
Petroleum Geology, obtaining an
M.Sc. in 1974 from the University of
Aberdeen and then a Ph.D. and D.I.C
from Imperial College, London, in
1979. Over a career spanning more
than 30 years he has worked as an
independent consultant on projects
in the Middle East and also in the
Parana Basin in Brazil. He has
published several papers on
diagenesis, reservoir
characteristics at unconformities,
and also on the exploration
potential of Iraq. He has been an
active member of the American
Association of Petroleum Geologists
and a member of the Petroleum
Exploration Society of Great
Britain. |
